Volbella Filler in Scottsdale, AZ

What is Volbella?

Volbella is a member of the JUVEDERM family and a trusted, FDA-approved product that gently enhances lip volume providing a hydrated and smoothed appearance. It is also effective in minimizing the fine lines around the mouth, treating tear troughs and even earlope rejuvenation. Volbella is formulated with Vycross, a proprietary filler technology from Allergan that blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. When injected into the lip area, it provides a natural appearance and feeling enhancement that can last up to a year.

Who is Volbella for?

Volbella is ideal for healthy women and men who want to subtly enhance their lips or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. The formulation effectively counteracts signs of aging, so it is often a choice of clients who want to look and feel younger.

While safe and effective for most people, some clients are not good candidates for this filler. Those with a history of anaphylaxis and individuals with certain allergies or health conditions are often advised not to choose this treatment option. Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics in Scottsdale offers a thorough consultation that includes a facial analysis and discussion about your questions, concerns and treatment goals. This helps us determine if Volbella is the right choice for you.

What Should I Expect after Volbella?

Volbella results are immediate, and their full impact is recognized within 7 days, once any redness and swelling has dissipated. Clients typically notice that their mouth looks fuller, more defined and naturally symmetrical with other facial features. Fine lines and wrinkles also are less noticeable. Lips appear youthful, hydrated, soft and natural. One treatment is often enough to obtain excellent results however, some clients do require a follow-up visit to fully reach their goals. Treatment results often last a year before subsequent visits are necessary.

What Does a Volbella Treatment Consist of?

As with most hyaluronic acid fillers, only minimal preparation is necessary prior to your Volbella treatment session. During your initial consultation, any specifics will be discussed so you have a clear understanding of how to prepare. Most individuals can follow their normal daily routine prior to coming to our facility for their treatment. Eat and drink as normal, and be sure to hydrate well before your appointment. Minimize the potential for bruising by discontinuing any aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, flax seed, vitamin D, vitamin E, ginko or garlic one week prior to your appointment. Smoking also increases your risk of bruising. If you are taking a prescription blood thinner, your risk of bruising is also greater, however, we do not advise discontinuing such medications even temporarily unless your prescribing doctor recommends such.

A typical Volbella treatment session takes about 30 minutes. It is a safe and effective outpatient procedure, meaning you can go home or return to work or other activities immediately following your session at Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics Scottsdale. One of our artistic and professional injectors will cleanse your skin, mark the injection sites and begin the treatment. Volbella contains a small amount of lidocaine, and the filler is injected using a very fine needle. As a result, any discomfort is typically minimal and temporary. Most patients report only feeling a slight pinching sensation.

After your procedure, avoid any strenuous exercise as this can increase swelling. Soreness and bruising is a normal side effect and only temporary. To help with any mild discomfort you might experience, use an ice pack or take Tylenol. For your first night of sleep, prop your head using a pillow to minimize any opportunities for bruising. Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat for a few days following treatment. Adam and Eve Medical Aesthetics Scottsdale will follow up with you in the first week after treatment. Please call us with any questions or concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions About Volbella

Whether age has caused lip thinning or you simply want to enhance your natural lip shape and size, Volbella can be used to naturally plump your lips while maintaining a subtle appearance.

Like Juvederm itself, which is a cosmetic filler treatment, Volbella is an injectable treatment used to enhance the appearance of skin. In contrast to Juvederm, which can be used in other areas of the face, Volbella is designed to be used on the lips and the surrounding areas. Volbella may be used to “plump up” the lips as well as to smooth out laugh lines and wrinkles surrounding the mouth.

Each Volbella appointment will last about 30 minutes. Unlike some treatments, the results you notice from each Volbella injection are instantaneous. You will immediately notice fuller lips, reduced lines around your mouth, and smoother, healthier skin as a result of this treatment. Some patients report results that last up to one year, while others have enjoyed their Volbella treatment for 18 months!

You will be able to go back to your day after leaving our practice and resume your normal activities. Your Volbella treatment can last up to one year. You may want to speak to your provider about scheduling your Volbella treatments along with other treatments you frequently receive, such as microdermabrasion or other types of facials, to reduce the time that you will have to come into the office.

For most healthy people, Volbella is completely safe when it comes to treating lines around the mouth and improving the fullness of the lip area. Like Juvederm, it is composed of synthetic hyaluronic acid, which mimics the natural substance found in all of our bodies. This compound helps draw in water and keep it in your body for a longer period of time. The result of a Like hyaluronic acid treatment — whether it is injected or used topically on your skin — is healthier, more lubricated skin. Volbella can help treat the appearance of “smoker lines” around the mouth and lips that appear to lose their fullness due to normal aging.

Your final cost will depend upon where you’re receiving a Volbella injection, whether you are combining it with other procedures, and how many injections you receive. Insurance will not usually cover this procedure as it is cosmetic.

Typically, a Volbella syringe will cost around $400-$600. Depending on which features you are addressing, you may need one or two syringes during a treatment session. Speak with your practitioner or staff before scheduling your Volbella appointment to determine the final cost of this procedure.

Volbella usually lasts up to 12 months. Volbella, unlike some competing products, is one of the longest-lasting and simplest fillers to receive. Other fillers may require you to come in for a touch-up every few months! Be sure to take good care of your lips during this time including protecting them with lip products that include SPF sun protection. Your body’s natural production rate of collagen will be another determining factor for how long each injection lasts. Some patients notice improvement for longer than 12 months!

Volbella was designed for shallow injections, while other products were used for injections that go deeper into the skin. Volbella can be used for injections under the eye area if the injection area is shallow. There are other products made specifically for the under eye area if this is your main concern. We will be able to advise you more clearly on specific products during your consultation.

Volbella injections may cause swelling for the first day or two after you receive the injections, but this should subside within 48 hours. If your swelling looks abnormal, feels painful, or lasts longer than a few days, this is not normal. The Volbella injection itself should not cause pain or discomfort aside from the tiny prick you may feel when the needle is inserted. Please call us immediately if you notice any strange signs, such as extreme swelling or redness around the area that does not go away or gets worse.

Remember that your lips will look fuller than before — this is a normal part of the treatment and the desired result. If it’s the first time you’ve received a lip filler and you think they are too full, wait for a few days to see if the swelling is causing them to look larger than you want or if it is indeed the result of the treatment. As always, let us know if you have concerns. We strive to make our patients happy and content with the results they receive in our office.
